A Welcome from the Headmistress
The White House School is a very special place. I have taught at the school for almost twenty-eight years and I never fail to get a buzz of excitement as I come through the door every morning.
The White House is an independent primary school situated in rural North Shropshire, on the outskirts of the market town of Whitchurch. Although non-denominational, the school boasts strong Christian values, while fostering respect for other faiths and traditions. The School has been a family school since its foundation in 1945. We are proud of our friendly, caring ethos, with children, staff and parents enjoying mutual confidence and respect. We are very much a school community.
We offer a focused and purposeful learning environment. Our well qualified staff encourages children to achieve their full potential and to reach high standards across a wide range of studies and extra-curricular activities. We are a non-selective school and it is extremely rewarding to see how much the children achieve in so many different ways. The children are supported in their academic careers through sound and thorough teaching and are also supported in developing their creativity, interests and passions. The children are happy, enthusiastic and eager to learn. It is wonderful to see confidence being built and children developing so positively towards their future paths in life. Many of our children continue in the independent sector at secondary level and I am often told by these schools that White House children are well prepared, confident and enthusiastic. Our children often win scholarships to independent secondary schools. Some of our children move into the maintained sector at 11 and these children are also well prepared for transition.
One of my favourite quotations is that of Archbishop Oscar Romero - "Aspire not to have more but to be more". This is my hope and prayer for the children of The White House School - that they learn to be givers rather than takers, that they live each day to the full and that they always strive to perform to the best of their ability.
I am immensely proud of each and every member of our school and I welcome you to our website where I hope that you get a flavour of our vibrant community and of what we have to offer.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find any information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school directly with any queries you may have.
Thank you for visiting. Helen Clarke
